Important Time Trials Information
Hello Trident Families,
Time Trials are almost here! Time Trials will be held on Thursday, June 11 and serve as an important opportunity for swimmers to become familiar with the flow of a swim meet before our regular season begins.
Event Information
Date: Thursday, June 11
Warm-Ups: 5:00 PM
Meet Start: 5:30 PM
RSVP & Event Selection
Time Trials RSVPs are currently open in SwimTopia, and parents select their swimmer's events. To ensure every athlete has the opportunity to participate, the RSVP deadline has been extended until Wednesday, June 10 at 5:00 PM.
Please Sign Up for as Many Events as Possible
We strongly encourage swimmers to participate in as many events as they are able during Time Trials.
Time Trials provide coaches and swimmers with valuable baseline times that will be used throughout the season. The more events a swimmer participates in, the more information coaches have when creating lineups for upcoming meets and helping athletes identify areas for growth.
Time Trials are also an opportunity to practice meet procedures, including starts, turns, finishes, reporting for events, and receiving feedback from coaches in a low-pressure environment before the regular season begins.
Even if a swimmer is nervous about a particular event or stroke, Time Trials are the perfect place to give it a try. Mistakes and even disqualifications are part of the learning process, and coaches are there to help swimmers improve and grow.
Time Trials will include Stroke & Turn Judges, just as our regular season meets do. Swimmers may receive disqualifications (DQs) for violations of stroke, turn, or finish rules. This is a normal part of the learning process and provides swimmers with valuable feedback before the regular season begins.
Team Support Training Opportunities
Time Trials are coming up, and we have several trainee opportunities available!
If you are interested in learning a new Team Support role or shadowing an experienced volunteer throughout the evening, we would love to have you join us.
Available trainee positions include:
- Announcer
- Computer Operator
- Stroke & Turn Judge
This is a great opportunity to learn how our meets operate behind the scenes while gaining experience in a new Team Support role.
If you are interested, please sign up in SwimTopia or contact: Julie Rohe at [email protected]
What to Bring
Please make sure your swimmer arrives prepared for Time Trials with:
- Competitive swimsuit (Girls: one-piece suit; Boys: jammers or briefs)
- Trident team cap
- Goggles
- Towel
- Water bottle
- Healthy snacks (The snack bar will be open during Time Trials)
Wearing competitive swimwear helps swimmers become comfortable with the equipment they will use throughout the season and ensures they are prepared for a successful meet experience.
Swim Meet Etiquette Reminders
Time Trials are a great opportunity for swimmers to learn and practice proper swim meet etiquette before our regular season begins.
Please remind your swimmer to:
- Wait quietly behind the blocks and listen for instructions from officials and coaches.
- Report promptly when their event is called.
- After completing a race, remain in the water until all swimmers in the heat have finished.
- Exit the pool as directed by officials and volunteers.
- Check in with the coaches after each race to receive feedback and instruction
We encourage all swimmers to participate, have fun, and use this experience to build confidence as we begin another exciting season of Trident Swim & Dive.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday evening!
